A trial specialist is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating cultivation and variety trials within the fruit vegetable sector. The goal is to test and assess new varieties and cultivation strategies for their commercial potential. As a Trial Specialist, you are an indispensable link in our product development process.

You will work daily with new varieties for the professional high-tech horticulture sector and advanced data tools.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with our Account Managers, Breeders, and customers, directly contributing to the development of tomorrow’s fruit vegetables—with a strong focus on our tomato hybrid breeding program.
Your Responsibilities
- Organize and set up variety trials (including variety selection, trial locations, and data collection methods).
- Conduct and monitor cultivation and variety trials from start to finish.
- Work closely with breeders, account managers, and product manager(s).
- Collect data and translate it into clear analyses and actionable insights.
- Present results and make recommendations to breeders, product managers, growers, and commercial teams.
What You Bring

- Natural attention to detail, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset.
- Interest in and knowledge of fruit vegetable cultivation and horticulture in general.
- Experience with trial design and data processing, or a strong willingness to learn.
- The ability to analyze data and translate findings into clear, concise written and verbal communication.Willingness to travel internationally when required.
Education & Experience
- Practical experience is highly valued. A Bachelor’s degree (HBO level) is preferred.
- However, if you do not (yet) have this qualification, that is not a problem. At Axia, we place great value on motivation and a willingness to learn. We will fully support you in making this role your own.Very important: you are fluent in Dutch and can communicate effectively in English and/or German.
- Naturally, you hold a valid driver’s license and are familiar with modern communication tools and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
